What Is Iftar? And Why Everyone Is Welcome

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset. Iftar is the meal that breaks that fast.

Traditionally, it begins lightly — often with dates and water — before moving into warm dishes shared at the table. It is not simply about eating. It is about gathering, gratitude and generosity.

At Silk Road, we have created an Iftar experience that honours tradition while remaining welcoming to everyone.

You do not need to be fasting to join us.

Many of our guests come simply to experience the atmosphere — families introducing friends to the customs of Ramadan, couples enjoying a different style of evening dining, or colleagues gathering after work.

The structure of Iftar makes for a particularly satisfying meal:

Light starters to begin.
Comforting mains to follow.
Something sweet to close.

It is communal, unhurried and generous.

If you have never experienced Iftar before, Ramadan is the perfect time to do so.
